Another person arrested and charged for the deadly shooting incident at Cangrejo Caye
A fifth person has been arrested and charged with the shooting incident which occurred on October 2nd at Cangrejo Caye area near San Pedro Town resulting in the death of Jerry Espat. On Monday, October 18th, 31-year-old Carlos Salazar, a fisherman of the San Mateo subdivision was formally charged for the crime of Murder, Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, and Wounding.

Delson Paguada remanded for shooting incident at Cangrejo Caye
Police have arrested, charged, and remanded 22-year-old Delson Paguada, in connection with the October 2nd shooting at Cangrejo Caye that resulted in the death of Jerry Espat. Paguada had been sought by police following the incident. Days later, he reportedly handed himself into authorities accompanied by an attorney, and on Tuesday, October 12th, Paguada was arraigned at the San Pedro Magistrate Court for the charges of Attempted Murder, Grievous Harm, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, and Wounding.

Derricia Castillo Salazar out on bail after arraigned for Wounding
Retired Belize Defence Force Captain Derricia Castillo Salazar avoided remandment at the Belize Central Prison after meeting a $2,000 bail following her arraignment at the San Pedro Magistrate Court today for Wounding. Salazar is accused of stabbing a female in the face during an altercation around 2AM on Sunday, August 15, at a hotel in San Pedro Town.

Investigation into Coye/Madrill case dismissal still pending
After their court case was continuously adjourned for months, they walked free from the offenses. This prompted the Professional Standard Branch (PSB) to investigate the case and find out why it was tossed out since the reason given was due to the absence of the prosecution. However, since January, the PSB has been inconclusive regarding such investigation, and up to press time, there has not been an official report regarding the case.

San Pedro police officers Coye and Mardrill blameless for shooting incident at Central Park
Two San Pedro police officers, Norman Coye and Darnell Madrill, walked free from Wounding Charges on Tuesday, January 9th, after appearing at the San Pedro Magistrate Court. The duo had been accused of being involved in a shooting incident at Central Park in April of 2017, allegedly causing injuries to five persons from bullet fragments.
