Thursday, November 27th, 2014
Xanadu Island Resort has won a prestigious International Hotel Award for being one of the Best Sustainable Hotels in the regions. The International Hotel Awards was developed to identify, highlight and reward exceptional hotels in the hospitality industry. More than 50 countries from all the continents participate in this award.
Xanadu is among 17 other international hotels that have received this award. According to Stuart Shield, president of the International Hotel Awards, the awards serve to promote and encourage excellence in hospitality industry. “This is the fourth year of the International Hotel Awards. Its aim is to highlight excellence in the luxury hotel industry and praise the outstanding levels of service and style. The competition also boasts specialist categories to further spotlight the most outstanding spa, convention and golf hotels. Smaller luxury hotels are also featured, as these specialize in delivering a more intimate environment for those seeking a quieter and more relaxing experience. With many five-star award hotels offering an exemplary service, we feel honored to be able to highlight those that are making an art out of the process. They really do deserve recognition for all the effort they put into their business as well as their overall presentation and innovation,” says Shield.
Manger of Xanadu, Cathy Alchin says that the award came as a surprise but are honored to have received the recognition. “We are honored to have received this International Hotel Award for Best Sustainable Hotel. Xanadu is a Green Globe property and we try hard to balance our business with our desire to protect the environment and support our community. We are very proud of our staff for helping us to achieve this award. We are unique in that we are the only monolithic dome resort in the world. Boutique as we only have 20 suites. Eco-friendly using non-toxic chemicals, saving on water and electricity. With natural vegetation and added water features we support the local birds and small creatures that live on our property,” said Alchin.
An award ceremony will be held on January 26, 2015 at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square where all the winners of 2014 will be recognized.
