Share

Ambergris Caye is getting ready to welcome the arrival of a new airline to Belize. The popular Canadian air carrier, WestJet will start offering twice-weekly non-stop flights between Toronto’s Pearson Airport (YYZ) and Belize’s Philip S.W Goldson International (BZE) beginning Saturday, October 29th. All those lay overs in the continental United States will finally come to an end, thus making Belize even more accessible to Canadians who are looking forward to escaping from the pending winter weather. WestJet joins Southwest and Copa Airlines, who began flying to Belize a year ago.32 Westjet
The introduction of this direct service to the Jewel will give Canadians the flexibility to get to Belize quicker. Experiencing the many wonders of Belize is now closer than before.
Ambergris Caye, which is considered the top destination for visitors in Belize, has been counting the days for the service to start. A few businesses in San Pedro Town stated that they are ready to welcome the new visitors and make sure their stay on La Isla Bonita is the best. A few restaurants downtown, such as Caliente, commented that they are excited and their staff is ready to provide the excellent service they are known for. Estel’s Dine by the Sea acknowledges that with more tourism on the island, residents will have access to more jobs, as the demand for additional services increases. Both establishments on the beach offered some of the best food in local and international cuisine, and are ready to serve. Hotels such as Spindrift, Sun Breeze, Ramon’s Village, Caribbean Villas and Xanadu all expressed their satisfaction on WestJet’s entry into the popular North-American-Belize market. They all shared one common sentiment. “We are prepared to pamper the new arrivals from Canada with the best hospitality the island has to offer.”
Tour operators are also looking forward to welcoming our Canadian friends with unique services via different tours. Due to its proximity to the second largest barrier reef in the world, daily snorkelling and diving trips to places such as the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the famous Shark Ray Alley are highly recommended. Pay a close visit to the sea turtles, sharks, rays and dozens of species of fish. Visitors can also choose from daily excursions to the other World Heritage Sites such as Turneffe Reef and the Great Blue Hole. All these services are provided by San Pedro’s professional businesses, catering for the visitor who longs for the experience of a lifetime, while at the same time, enjoying with the local culture.
As the winter is approaching fast in North America, travellers planning to head south to sunny Belize and Ambergris Caye can start making plans as of now.
