San Pedro represented in FITUR tourism fair in Spain

A Belizean delegation, including tourism stakeholders and the Ministry of Tourism, is currently participating at a tourism fair in Madrid, Spain, known as Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR). The prestigious tourism event ends on January 22nd, and among the Belizean stakeholders promoting the Belize product include San Pedro-based Tropic Air and Matachica Resort.

San Pedro has 38 new tour guides

On Monday, November 21st, 38 islanders received their certification after completing tour guide training. A short ceremony acknowledging the recipients was held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, where they received their certificates from Belize Tourism Board's (BTB) representative Abil Castañeda and Miss San Pedro 2022-2023 Faith Edgar. The course was made possible through the San Pedro Junior College's collaboration with instructors Philip 'Billy' Leslie and Josue Sosa.

Tropic Air now flies to San Pedro Sula, Honduras

On Tuesday, November 15th, Tropic Air officially inaugurated a bi-weekly non-stop flight from the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA), north of Belize City, to the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The Belizean airline based in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, has scheduled these flights every Tuesday and Thursday, leaving at 7AM from Belize and 9AM from San Pedro Sula.

Belizean food highlighted at BTIA’s cultural cuisine training

A Belizean culinary experience led by well-known Chef Sean Kuylen and food scholar Dr. Lyra Spang was held from November 7-8 in San Pedro Town. It highlighted some of the best traditional dishes the country has to offer. Under the auspices of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) San Pedro Chapter, the event served as a training for local chefs. Dubbed 'Raising the Bar on Belizean Cuisine,' it further increased the participants' skills in preparing cultural dishes. This regional cooking can now become part of their restaurants' menus and provide guests with a delicious Belizean experience.

Ambergris Caye’s tourism stakeholders shine at BTB National Tourism Awards

The 2022 National Tourism Awards, organized by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), saw several of Ambergris Caye’s tourism stakeholders nabbing prestigious awards. These included Tour Guide of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, and Tour Operator of the Year.

Mexican influencer ‘Mariel de Viaje’ visits Belize and La Isla Bonita

Mexican travel journalist, content creator, and YouTuber Mariel Galan visited Belize to document her experience in the Jewel and promote it to millions of travelers in her country and other parts of the world. Her travel content (videos) can be seen on her YouTube channel dubbed 'Mariel de Viaje.' She has gained more than 49 million views for her travel vlogging in destinations around Mexico and other parts of the world.

New entry protocol to Belize; no COVID-19 vaccination or travel insurance required

As restrictions for COVID-19 placed on travelers visiting and leaving Belize are dropped, the Government of Belize continues to make visiting the Jewel easier and more efficient. The Belize Tourism Board advised on July 14th about changes regarding the previous mandatory health and travel insurance and vaccination requirements.
