Tropic Air pilots and staff receive tour guide certification

On Monday, May 15th, a class of pilots and staff from Tropic Air received their certificates for completing the National Tour Guide Training Program. After a short ceremony starting at 6:30PM at the company’s corporate headquarters, representatives from the Belize Tourism Board and trainer Philip ‘Billy’ Leslie handed out certificates to the participants. The program saw 13 pilots completing the course, allowing them to apply for their Tour Guide license. In addition, ten participants also completed training in first aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

BTB Hosts 2nd B.O.O.M. Forum Under the Theme: A Dip Into The Future

The Forum is BTB’s annual signature conference with the aim to share major achievements, opportunities, and the future outlook for Belize’s tourism industry. Approximately 300 persons representing a wide-cross section of hoteliers, tour operators, educators, and industry partners from across Belize attended. The event was held under the theme, A DIP INTO THE FUTURE, and included presentations from top industry experts highlighting key marketing strategies in Belize’s major markets, artificial intelligence, tourism trends, sustainability, training, and human resources.

Reintroduction of ADO and Fuente del Norte Operational Services in Belize

The Department of Transport announces Cabinet’s decision to approve the reintroduction of Fuente Del Norte and ADO bus services in Belize. Pre-pandemic, these bus companies offered premier services to Belizeans and international visitors transiting across the Guatemalan and Mexican border points, thereby improving Belize’s connectivity to the region.

San Pedro represented in FITUR tourism fair in Spain

A Belizean delegation, including tourism stakeholders and the Ministry of Tourism, is currently participating at a tourism fair in Madrid, Spain, known as Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR). The prestigious tourism event ends on January 22nd, and among the Belizean stakeholders promoting the Belize product include San Pedro-based Tropic Air and Matachica Resort.

San Pedro has 38 new tour guides

On Monday, November 21st, 38 islanders received their certification after completing tour guide training. A short ceremony acknowledging the recipients was held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, where they received their certificates from Belize Tourism Board's (BTB) representative Abil Castañeda and Miss San Pedro 2022-2023 Faith Edgar. The course was made possible through the San Pedro Junior College's collaboration with instructors Philip 'Billy' Leslie and Josue Sosa.

Tropic Air now flies to San Pedro Sula, Honduras

On Tuesday, November 15th, Tropic Air officially inaugurated a bi-weekly non-stop flight from the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA), north of Belize City, to the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The Belizean airline based in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, has scheduled these flights every Tuesday and Thursday, leaving at 7AM from Belize and 9AM from San Pedro Sula.
