Despite the immense love we have for Ambergris Caye, there is enough love to spread around for the entire country of Belize. Being from the largest district, Cayo, I find that there is always a little pull towards home. Every once in a while, it’s time to pack up for the weekend and head to the mountains and ‘green’ air. It takes about 3 hours via bus from Belize City to the twin towns of Santa Elena and San Ignacio, the base of travel to other parts of the district. If one were driving down, well, that time is cut to about an hour and a half (driving carefully of course!).
