COVID-19 Tests to be Offered to Persons Departing Belize

The Ministry of Health and Wellness informs the public that it will expand testing to now include all persons requiring a negative COVID-19 test to enter other countries. This is as a result of a media release dated January 12, 2021, from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which announced that all air passengers will now require a negative COVID-19 test to enter the United States effective January 26, 2021.

Persons traveling from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, can get their rapid test results from either a private health center or the Mar de Tumbo Flu Clinic run by the local health department.

After the detection of the new variants of the novel coronavirus, the CDC has decreed that all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country are required to present a negative covid test. This new measure is effective January 26, 2021.

Latest blood drive collects more convalescent plasma from recovered islanders

The blood drive collected a total of 16 pints- convalescent plasma from 7 recovered patients and 9 pints from non-COVID donors.

COVID-19 Outbreak at Palm View Center

The Palm View Center is a mental health facility with a total of 27 residents. The facility is reporting that 21 residents and seven staff have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. No deaths have been reported in connection with the outbreak as of January 4, 2021.

Covid-19 rapid testing drive identifies only three positive cases in San Pedro Town

Of the 61 San Pedro Town residents who were tended to during the rapid testing drive, only 3 resulted positive for COVID-19. They are quarantining pending PCR results.

COVID-19 rapid testing drive set for Wednesday, January 6th in San Pedro

Dr. Canul urges residents to take advantage of the FREE rapid testing on Wednesday, January 6th from 1PM to 4PM. The results should reveal if there are more cases on the island than those officially being reported.

Convalescent plasma/blood drive set for this Friday

A second blood drive to collect convalescent plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients has been planned for Friday, January 8th in San Pedro Town.
