San Pedro SDA Churches host ‘Communion in Action’ Health Fair
The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) churches in San Pedro hosted a Community Health Fair on Saturday, March 21st, at Central Park, bringing together residents for a morning focused on health, wellness, and community outreach. The event, held from 9AM to 1PM, was organized by three local congregations, Central Adventist Church, New Horizon, and God is Truth, in observance of Global Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Communion in Action.”

Unclaimed Million Dalla Jackpot Winnings to Be Donated to Charity
Belize Government Lotteries Ltd. (BGL) has announced that unclaimed winnings from the Million Dalla Jackpot draw held on December 20, 2025, totalling $111,111.11, will be donated to a charitable organization. In a public notice issued on January 21, 2026, BGL reported that eight of the nine winning tickets drawn for the Million Dalla Jackpot game were claimed within the required time frame, resulting in total payouts of $888,888.88.

Belize’s Million-Dollar Jackpot is Back
Belize Government Lotteries Limited (BGLL) has relaunched its popular One Million Dollar Jackpot Game, with ticket sales commencing on November 5, 2025, nationwide, including San Pedro. Tickets are priced at $5 and can be purchased through BGLL sub-agents or via the Fi We Boledo mobile app. Sales will run until December 20, when the highly anticipated draw will take place at noon in Belmopan. Players select a four-digit sequence for a chance to win the $1 million jackpot, with the prize to be shared equally among multiple winners.

The Ministry of Economic Transformation (MET) and the National Health Insurance (NHI) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance the national HIV response on August 11, 2025. The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) has launched a strategic plan aimed at improving access to universal health services for Belizeans. This initiative, known as the Belize Health Sector Strategic Plan 2025-2034, outlines a clear vision to address key challenges within the health system and enhance the nation’s healthcare services, including promoting healthier lifestyles. The program was officially launched on March 21st in Belize City. The event was attended by the ministry’s leadership and representatives from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), a key partner that provides technical and financial support to the initiative.

Residents reminded to register for the National Health Insurance
In a few months, the National Health Insurance (NHI) is expected to be available nationwide, providing all Belizeans affordable, high-quality primary healthcare. To participate in this government initiative, where patients only pay a small portion of their medical bills, individuals must register at a healthcare center enrolled with the NHI. In-person registration is recommended and requires a social security number. However, in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, some residents have reported being registered in the program without their knowledge, leading to confusion and delays in their applications.
