Melanie Paz completes her term as Lion President

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Over the past two years the San Pedro Lions Club has been under the presidency of Lion Melanie Paz. Under her presidency the San Pedro Lions Club improved by leaps and bounds in many aspects. During her presidency, the club has been actively involved in many humanitarian events, community activities and projects, and the Lions’ Den and Mosquito Coast Park has seen major renovations and facelifts. It was under the visionary leadership of President Paz that the club was removed from autopilot as she worked tirelessly to re-energize the membership. But like all good things, Lion Paz’s two-terms as President will come to an end on July 9th.

During her final meeting on Wednesday June 22nd, President Paz expressed heartfelt gratitude to her membership and the community of San Pedro for the continued support they have shown improving the club. Lion Paz said that many of her goals as president of the club have been accomplished and have paved the road for the incoming president Marina Kay, one that will hopefully be less challenging but will require continuity. In her remarks to the club members, Lion Paz pledged to work along with the incoming president and the new board in keeping the Lions spirit active and alive. She also challenged the incoming board in planning activities for the club, and that they must look forward with a vision and a plan. President Paz said that one of the keys to her success was that she encouraged membership participation in the decision making process of the club, a step that is key to any successful leader.

The new board consists of the following: Marina Kay as President, Jorge Aldana re-elected as Secretary, Abel Guerrero re-elected as Treasurer, Enes Anderson elected as membership Chair, Paula “Pedie” Palaza as Tail Twister, Janet Brown as Lion Tamer and Tamara Sniffin as Public Relations officer. Lions Directors are Francisco Verde, Vianie Perez and Stephen Manuel. The new board will be installed on July 9th during a special ceremony at the San Pedro Lions Den.

The San Pedro Lions Club takes the opportunity to thank, salute and congratulate Lion President Melanie Paz for a job well done.
