New Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine now available to Belizeans
As the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine rollout continues across Belize, a new brand is now available to the public. The Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19, donated by the United Arab Emirates in early April to Belize, has finally been approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization. In Belize, this vaccine will be offered to persons in phases one through three or anyone who is yet to get the first jab.

World Health Organization Lists SINOPHARM COVID-19 Vaccine for Emergency Use

On April 8, 2021, the Government of Belize received a donation of 10,000 doses of the SINOPHARM BIBP COVID-19 vaccine from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). At this time, the ministry is preparing to include this vaccine into its COVID-19 vaccine schedule. The public will be informed of that date accordingly.

The second shipment of COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Belize
Belize received its second shipment of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX facility on Wednesday, May 12th. The shipment of 33,600 doses was received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) Deysi Mendez and personnel from the ministry.

Israel Honorary Consul in Belize donates care packages for people living with diabetes during the pandemic
The Government of the State of Israel, through its diplomatic missions and consulates around the world, aims to carry out its humanitarian responsibilities wherever and whenever action is required. In honour of the 73rd anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel, through the Honorary Consul of Israel to Belize, Ms. Rose Wischenka, a donation of care packages for people living with diabetes was made to help improve their quality of life and increase public awareness to their unique challenges during the pandemic.
