Ministry of Health & Wellness Extends Contracts for Hemodialysis Services

Dialysis is needed when kidneys stop functioning properly and cannot remove waste from the body commonly caused by diabetes and high blood pressure. The number of individuals with end-stage renal failure has been increasing continuously. One of the Ministry’s responses is to expand the dialysis coverage to patients who are struggling to meet the high cost of hemodialysis treatment.

On behalf of the Walji family, the management of Las Terrazas Resort and Residences handed over a donation of face masks and hand sanitizers to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II on Wednesday, April 7th. The donation consisted of 16 containers of hand sanitizer gel and over 200 facemasks.

MOHW assigns 8,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for the tourism sector

Requirements for Travelers to Belize

The statutory instrument states that the Ministry of Health & Wellness considers persons to be fully immunized two weeks after they have received two full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and are verified through an official document two weeks. It also states that the Ministry reserves the right to test anyone, regardless of meeting the above criteria.

Belize Receives First Set of COVID-19 Vaccines from the COVAX Facility

The Ministry of Health & Wellness announces the arrival of 33,600 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to Belize. The vaccines arrived on Marcg 31st, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Philip Goldson International Airport. Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness, to receive the first shipment of vaccines from the COVAX Facility on behalf of the people and Government of Belize.

Tourism sector members 40+ now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues, and as of Wednesday, March 31st, Phase 2C is open, and members of the tourism sector ages 40+ are asked to get vaccinated. The authorities in the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) still urge persons ages 60+ who have not registered for the vaccine to do so.
