Not enough markets for Belize’s record-breaking sugar crop season
Sugar industry stakeholders in the northern part of the country claim that the results were beyond expectations, producing over 140 thousand tons of sugar. However, despite successful in production, the industry continues to struggle in securing markets, following the European Union (EU) reforms which no longer give Belize preferential rates on sugar.
