Ministry of Tourism Says Infrastructural Improvements Coming to Secret Beach
The Secret Beach area, located on the northwest side of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, is one of the most popular recreational areas on the island, attracting investment from the private sector and adding to the island’s tourism product. However, the area lacks proper infrastructure, including electricity, running water, and drainage, among other essential services. Minister of Tourism, the Honorable Anthony Mahler, stated that this much-needed infrastructure is planned for this area of Ambergris Caye.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. John Briceño set to retire after a second term in office
Belizeans are set to vote in the general election scheduled for 2025, where they will choose either to re-elect the current government led by the People's United Party (PUP) or to elect a new administration. Prime Minister Honorable Dr. John Briceño, a prominent figure in the PUP for decades, seeks re-election for a second term. On Wednesday, January 22nd, Briceño shared with reporters in Belize City that he hopes to retire from electoral politics after serving a second term.

Design changes made to the Artisan Market project; construction to start soon
A project to construct a new artisan market at El Embarcadero, west of downtown San Pedro, is encountering controversy as some artisans and residents oppose it. Following some small protests, the project will undergo minor design changes, leading to the removal of the previous poster displaying the market plans. The proposed new market is a collaborative effort between the Minister of Tourism, Honorable Anthony Mahler, and Area Representative, Honorable Andre Perez.

Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit receives upgrade
The Accident and Emergency Unit at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City has been upgraded, marking a significant milestone in healthcare. The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health and Wellness, in a powerful display of collaboration, prioritized the enhancement of the most frequently utilized area within the unit. This joint effort aims to improve the quality of care provided to the diverse patients they attend daily, underscoring the importance of unity in the pursuit of better healthcare.

Sustainable Tourism Programme II – Utility Transport Vehicles (UTVs) Handing Over
The Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations (MTDR), through the Sustainable Tourism Programme II, handed over four (4) Utility Transport Vehicles (UTVs). These are part of scheduled program activities under Component (3) Institutional Strengthening geared towards the provision of tourism transportation security vehicles and are the final set of transportation vehicles to be handed over under the STPII. These UTVs will assist and improve on the destination management of the tourism sector.

BTB Donates Nissan Frontier To The BDF
The Belize Tourism Board, through its Industry Development Department (IDD), donated a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pick-Up Truck to the Belize Defense Force (BDF). The vehicle was delivered during the official handing-over ceremony held on August 17, 2022 at the BDF Price Barracks compound in Ladyville.

Carnival Vista port call to Belize City: COVID-19 infections detected inside cruise ship contained
Belize received the Carnival Vista today with 2895 guests and 1441 crew on board. As per the normal protocol, upon submission of the Maritime Declaration by the ship in anticipation of its call to Belize the ship reported that it had on board 27 positive cases, 26 of which were crew members and 1 passenger.
