Government of Belize and UNICEF Launch State of the World’s Children 2023

UNICEF Belize in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Wellness held a ceremony on June 19 to launch the State of the World’s Children 2023: For Every Child, Vaccination, and handover critical cold chain equipment to strengthen primary health care in Belize. The State of the World’s Children 2023 is UNICEF’s flagship report and was first launched globally in April of this year. The 2023 edition is the first edition of the report solely dedicated to routine immunization. It sounds the alarm that there is a growing global immunization crisis resulting in 67 million children missing out on vaccinations between 2019 and 2021, with vaccination coverage levels decreasing in 112 countries.

Ministry of Health & Wellness Receives Donation of Cold Chain Equipment from UNICEF

On October 27, 2021y, the Ministry of Health & Wellness received a donation of 100 cold boxes from UNICEF Belize during a handing over ceremony held at the National Vaccine building in Belmopan. The model ACB boxes were presented as a part of UNICEF’s work to strengthen the national cold chain system for the provision of routine immunizations and COVID-19 vaccinations to children and families in remote and vulnerable communities.

Primary Schools in Rural Toledo to Receive Handwashing Stations

Twenty-nine handwashing stations were donated on July 16, 2021 to the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) in partnership with UNICEF Belize as part of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program led by the WASH Multi-Sectoral Body.

On June 10th, 2021, UNICEF Belize handed over cold chain equipment to the Ministry of Health & Wellness at an official ceremony held at the National Vaccine Building in Belmopan.

San Pedro celebrates 35th Township Anniversary with public fair

To commemorate San Pedro’s 35th Township Anniversary, and the 30th anniversary of Belize signing to the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of a Child (CRC), a public fair was held at the Central Park on Friday, November 29th. The fair saw the attendance of the Department of Youth Services, UNICEF Belize, the National Committee for Families and Children, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, National AIDs Commission San Pedro Branch, San Pedro Town Council and Projects Abroad.

Belizean children honored at National Children’s Award Gala

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Belize signing on to the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of a Child (CRC), for the first time ever a National Children’s Award Gala was held at Caribbean Motors Hall in Belize City on Saturday, November 23rd.

San Pedro Youth participate in emergency preparedness workshop

The educational activity took place on Tuesday, December 4th and Wednesday, December 5th inside The San Pedro Town Council’s (SPTC) conference room, training young children on how to deal with emergencies like fires, natural disasters, learning how to use a first aid kit, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR.
