Revival of the Rice Production Program for Toledo

Virtual Structured Dialogue to Validate Belize’s Country Programme for Engagement with the Green Climate Fund

On March 29, 2021, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, Belize’s National Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), began a three-day workshop to conduct Belize’s Second Structured Dialogue to validate the Country Programme for engagement with the GCF.

Jazelie ‘Jaz’ Azueta hosts Women Self Defense classes

In honor of Women's Month, on Saturday, March 27th, several ladies in San Pedro Town participated in a Women's Self-Defence program organized by islander Jazelie 'Jaz' Azueta. The event included collaboration from Martin Dawson of Dawson's Pit Fighters, athlete and islander Kent 'Bob' Gabourel, and Captain Shark's Belize.

Launching of the Biological Control Programme

The International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise launched its Biological Pest Control Programme at the National Agriculture and Trade Showgrounds in Belmopan on March 29, 2021.

Ministries of Youth and National Defence Collaborate for Youth Development

This collaboration will allow both ministries to capitalize on strengths to better serve the youth of Belize. The goal is to improve youth development in the country and transform the youth institution into a central regional youth training institute.

Belize Jaguars crushes Turks and Caicos 5-0 in World Cup qualifier

After losing 2-0 to Haiti last week, on Tuesday, March 30th, the Belize National Football Team-the Jaguars did much better on their second World Cup qualifying game for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and proceeded to blow out Turks and Caicos 5-0. With this victory, the Jaguars have now locked in three points and will prepare for their qualifying games set for June against St. Lucia and Nicaragua.

Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children pays official visit to San Pedro

The wife of the Prime Minister and the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Her Excellency Rosanna Briceño, paid an official visit to San Pedro Town on Tuesday, March 30th. During her visit, she was given a tour of the Hope Haven’s Children's Home and Empowerment Center and its Domestic Violence Outreach Center.

SPTC promotes local businesses with the first-ever Women in Business Expo and Market Day

To start the economy moving and promote businesses on the island, particularly those newly created since the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) hosted two events showcasing the hard work and creativity of island business owners. On Friday, March 26th, the first one was a ‘Women in Business Expo’ featuring female entrepreneurs, and the following day was Market Day, promoting a variety of large and small businesses.
