Belize Aggressor removed from Lighthouse Reef; damage assessment commences
The diving vessel Belize Aggressor IV, which was stuck at Lighthouse Reef, has finally been removed. The Belize Port Authority (BPA) said on Monday, November 27th, that the vessel was successfully refloated after being grounded near the Aquarium Dive Site for around ten days. An in-depth assessment of the damage to the coral reef is now underway. Following that, a fine will be assessed for the damage caused by the diving vessel.

The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government is hosting a three-day validation workshop for the Decent Work Country Diagnostic from November 28 to 30 in Belize City. The Diagnostic is a key step in the design phase of a new Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) for Belize.

SPHS crowns first Reina de la Banda Zsapphirrah Coleman
On Saturday, November 25th, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) started an annual tradition dubbed La Reina de la Banda. The first pageant of its kind saw five participants delighting in a packed Angel Nuñez Auditorium along with several dance performances. They all competed for the coveted title, but in the end, it was Zsapphirrah Coleman who claimed the crown as the first SPHS’s Reina de la Banda 2023-2024.

San Pedro Lions Club delivers donation to Caye Caulker fire victims
The San Pedro Lions Club is always helping those in need, and on Saturday, November 25th, they headed over to our sister island, Caye Caulker, to assist a group of fire victims with much-needed financial assistance. They handed over a financial contribution of $5,000 which was made possible with the collaboration of the San Pedro community, the San Pedro Town Council, and Lions members.

San Pedro Town Council Hosts 2nd Annual Tourism Awards
Held at El Patio Restaurant under sparkling décor, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) honored the outstanding tourism business of Ambergris Caye on Saturday evening, November 25th. Mr. Gerry Badillo and Ms. Natalie Arceo hosted the glamorous event, with the Black and White Garifuna Center performing, opening the ceremony with lively traditional dances.

In an effort to promote the domestic market of the sheep and goat industry in Belize, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, in collaboration with the Taiwan ICDF Breeding Sheep and Goat Production and Guidance System Enhancement Project (Sheep and Goat Protect Phase II), held a Lamb and Mutton Culinary Craft Workshop at the Food Processing Facility in Central Farm on November 22, 2023.
