Southern Health Region Receives Ambulances
On Friday, June 18, 2021, the Southern Health Region of the Ministry of Health & Wellness received two new 2020 Toyota Hiace ambulances procured through a grant of BZ$398,500. The grant was secured under the Grass-Roots Human Security Projects programme of the Government of Japan.

PAHO/WHO donates computer equipment to strengthen the Immunization Information Systems of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ COVID-19 Vaccine Response
To strengthen the activities and capacities of Immunization Information Systems (IIS) for COVID-19 vaccination in the country, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) donated laptops, tablets, printers and wireless routers to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MoHW).

ComPol warns COVID-19 regulation violators; orders formation commanders to enforce COVID-19 regulations
As COVID-19 numbers slowly creep back up across the country, Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Chester Williams sent a memorandum to all formation commanders directing them to rigidly enforce the quarantine regulations, which in particular prohibits mass gatherings and social events.

Waiver of Temporary Employment Permit Fees – Filipino Nurses
The Ministry of Immigration issued a letter referenced MINS/GEN/1/01/20 (130) and dated July 20, 2020, which informed the Human Resource Manager at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City of the waiver of Employment Permit Fee for the Filipino nurses employed at that institution. The conditions of that correspondence remain in effect to date or until otherwise changed.

Mexico donates 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine
On Saturday, June 12th, the Government of Mexico announced a donation of 400,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 to Belize, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Belize was the first country to receive its share of this generous donation of 100,000 doses which were delivered at the Philip Goldson International Airport by the Mexican Air Force.

Ministry of Immigration Receives Donation of PPE from Taiwanese Embassy
At a brief ceremony held on June 10th, 2021, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration in Belmopan, Hon. Ramon Cervantes, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, received a donation of 5,000 face masks and 500 isolation gowns from H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize.
