Self-defense workshop held during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
On December 1st, as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, self-defense classes for women and children were held at the Lion’s Den in San Pedro. This initiative aimed to empower participants by teaching them essential skills to protect themselves against potential threats, aligning with the activism campaign's broader goals of raising awareness and combating gender-based violence.

US Ambassador to Belize Michelle Kwan makes first public appearance and says she is happy to be here
On Wednesday, December 7th, the newly installed United States (US) Ambassador to Belize, Michelle Kwan, made her first public appearance at a US Embassy-hosted candlelight vigil in the Capital City of Belmopan. Kwan and Belize’s Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, and Belmopan Mayor Sharon Palacio presided over the event honoring the 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

New US Ambassador-designate to Belize Michelle Kwan arrives in the country
After close to a decade without a United States (U.S.) ambassador, Belize welcomed a new high-ranking diplomat, Michelle Kwan, who will take the post and head the American Embassy in the Capital City of Belmopan. Kwan arrived with her family in Belize on Friday, November 2nd, and will officially assume duties after presenting her Letters of Credence to Governor General Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam.
