To combat the issue of contraband in the agriculture sector, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise has established a standing Vegetable Interdiction Team (VIT) comprising officials from various government departments and agencies.

El Salvador Approves Importation of Belizean Products

Following efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise to open markets for Belizean products in El Salvador, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador has informed the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) that a request for a pest risk analysis (PRA) for four commodities ─ carrot, citrus, onion, and pineapple ─ has been approved.

Belize Marketing & Development Cooperation opens branch in San Pedro showcasing Belizean products

On Friday, December 2nd, the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) opened its fifth branch in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The facility on the island offers Belizean products such as jam, jellies, pepper sauces, honey, crafts, cooking oils, ointments, rice, sugar, local sweets, seasonings, alcoholic beverages, vegetables, dairy products, meats, and other items made in Belize by Belizean entrepreneurs. The branch is on Pescador Drive, across from the Smart office, and they are open Monday through Friday, 8AM to Noon and 1- 5PM.

Ministry of Economic Development Supports Climate Resilient Agricultural Practices by Rural Farmers

To address the challenges of market access for Belizean farmers, the Ministry of Economic Development through its Resilient Rural Belize (RRB) Program, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) on October 6, 2022.
