Belize Congratulates CCCCC on its Re-accreditation to GCF

The Ministry of Economic Development congratulates the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) on its re-accreditation to the Green Clime Fund (GCF), which was approved at the GCF’s 35th Board of Directors Meeting from March 13-16, 2023, in Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea.

MHDFIPA and International Partners Support Hurricane Lisa Relief through Digital Cash Transfer

The Ministry of Human Development, Families, and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MHDFIPA) in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) through the financial support from the European Union through its Department for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), the Republic of Korea, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, and in collaboration with the United Nations Joint SDG Fund, and DigiWallet Limited have launched the Hurricane Lisa Cash Assistance Programme (HLAP). One thousand six hundred (1600) vulnerable families who are among the most affected by Hurricane Lisa received a one-time emergency cash assistance of $250.00 Belize dollars through DigiWallet.

Enabling a Green-Investment Environment for Belize

Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, was invited to speak at the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) Private Investment for Climate Conference in the Republic of Korea. This high-level session was geared toward bringing together a group of government ministers and development organizations to discuss the importance of an enabling policy environment that will allow private markets for climate investment to develop citing specific actions.

Belize Delegation Participates in the GCF Global Conference in Korea

A high-level Belize Delegation led by Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, and Hon. Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, participated in the second Green Climate Fund (GCF) Global Programming Conference, from September 13 to 15, 2022, in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

Belize benefits from the Republic of Korea’s Development Assistance Programme

The donation was orchestrated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a governmental agency dedicated to providing grant aid programs and supporting the sustainable socioeconomic growth of partner countries like Belize.
