Caye Caulker Belize Bank branch burglarized

Police are investigating an alleged burglary reported at the Belize Bank branch in Caye Caulker. On December 27th, officers from the Caye Caulker police responded to the report and, upon inspecting the bank's facilities, found that some of the doors had been tampered with.

Police charge Jaylil Usher for the August 2023 murder of Kean Quiros

On Friday, November 29th, police formally arrested and charged Jaylil Adanai Clarence E. Usher with the murder of Kean Jamaal Quiros, which occurred in 2023. The 19-year-old resident of San Mateo was killed in the early hours of Friday, August 11th, while inside his home. Preliminary reports indicate that the assailant lured Quiros to open his door by pretending to be a police officer. Quiros was fatally shot when he opened the door.

The San Pedro Police investigating drowning incident at Central Park

On Monday, November 25th, San Pedro Police responded to an incident at the beach in front of the central park in downtown San Pedro. Upon arrival, they observed first responders attempting to resurrect a male identified as Manuel Choc, who was later pronounced dead. The police are currently investigating what appears to be a drowning.

Mexican Federal Police provide training to San Pedro Police Officers

In cooperation with the Sistema de Defensa y Control Policial (SIDECOP) Mexico and SideCop Belize, the Mexican Federal Police conducted a training exercise in San Pedro Town on November 22nd and 23rd. The initiative, led by local Martial Arts Instructor Martin Dawson, focused on enhancing law enforcement tactics and community safety to improve the skills of local police, explained instructor Martin Dawson, one of the coordinators.

San Pedro Special Police Constables undergo training

A group of 12 Special Police Constables are undergoing training in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to enhance their skills and equip them with a basic understanding of policing procedures and current laws. This training is a collaboration between the San Pedro Police Formation, the National Police Training Academy, and the Training Planning and Support Unit. The sessions are held at the San Pedro Library from October 28th to November 8th. At the end of the two-week program, the Special Constables will receive certificates of completion.
