PUP endorses Andre Perez for Belize Rural South
The People's United Party (PUP) has officially endorsed Andre Perez, the current Belize Rural South (BRS) area representative, for the 2025 General Elections. The endorsement event took place at Boca del Rio Beach Park in San Pedro Town on Friday, August 23rd. Many supporters and specially invited guests attended to support Perez's candidacy to continue representing San Pedro and Caye Caulker.

Construction of the San Pedro and Caye Caulker General Hospital commences with a groundbreaking ceremony
Residents and visitors of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker are one step closer to having reliable healthcare services. More than a year after the official announcement of the San Pedro and Caye Caulker General Hospital, the Government of Belize hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 1st, to mark the start of construction. This $33 million project is made possible through a grant from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Office of Area Representative Hon. Andre Perez donates wheelchairs to San Pedro Lions Club
Area Representative for Belize Rural South (BRS) (Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker), Honourable Andre Perez, donated several wheelchairs to San Pedro Lions Club members. The handing over of the wheelchairs took place on Wednesday, January 24th, at the BRS office on Coconut Drive.

National Health Insurance program coming to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye
Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez stated that the National Health Insurance (NHI) program will be implemented in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, this year. This program will offer island residents the opportunity to obtain medical services from healthcare providers working with NHI at a fraction of the price.

Cabinet re-shuffle sees three ministries assigned new ministers
The Government of Belize (GOB) announced on Monday, January 10th, portfolio adjustments in three of its ministries. The re-shuffling, which came into effect immediately, saw new ministers assigned to the Ministries of Health and Wellness, Public Utilities and Logistics, and Transport, Youth, and Sports. According to GOB, the changes came from a comprehensive five-year review of national conditions, Cabinet portfolio performance, and leadership effectiveness.
