San Pedro Town will come alive on March 9th as well known international musical band, La Sonora Dinamita will be on the island for a live concert. The Colombian based band is one of Latin America’s popular musical groups known for their salsa, merengue, cumbia and all around tropical music. It is the first time that the band will be performing in Belize; the closest they have ever been to Belize was in Campeche a few years ago.
The concert will take place at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium in San Pedro Town. The 12 member band, along with its dancers, is being promoted in Belize by LRS Promotions of San Pedro Town. According to Luis Romero Soler from LRS promotions, the concert on Ambergris Caye is one of many done in the region since the band is going through a musical tour through Mexico. “It is one of the first bands to popularize the cumbia music with a little tropical touch. They became popular because they bring across the day to day experiences through their music,” said Romer-Soler.
La Sonora Dinamita is known for its Spanish music such as “No te metas con mi cucú, Capullo y Sorullo, Se me perdió mi caderita, Mami que será lo que quiere el negro, amor de mis amores” amongst many other songs. Romero said the islanders can look forward to a great time. “When we go to parties on the island we listen to these songs. Islanders can look forward for a night of excitement, a night of a lot of dancing because we have a set line-up of musicians that are very good,” he added.
Also a part of the entertainment for the night will be local band Rompe Raja and popular Latin Belizean DJ Super Mario. The show will run from 9PM on the 9 of March until 4AM on March 10th. For ticket information you can call the following numbers 634-1171, 629-0454 or 604-8218.
