Changes in the Pump Price of Fuel Effective January 8, 2020

The price for kerosene and diesel will register increased as follows: Kerosene will increase by 26 cents from $7.51 to $7.77 per gallon; Diesel will increase by 23 cents from $ 10.06 to $ 10.29 per gallon. The prices for regular gasoline and premium gasoline will remain unchanged at $10.72 and $10.06 per gallon, respectively.

Unemployment rate on a rise: SIB reports 10.4% of Belize’s labour force without jobs

As the year winds down, The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) is reporting that the national unemployment rate continues to grow. According to their most recent Labour Force Survey (LFS) in September of 2019, the national unemployment rate grew from 7.7% in April 2019 to 10.4% in September 2019.

Belize on an Economic Activity Decline

As of the third quarter of 2019, the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) is reporting a decline in economic activity for the county of Belize. A 0.4% decline rate was observed in the country’s total level of economic activity in the period of July to September 2019 when compared to the same time bracket in 2018.
