Eric Najarro has joined the staff at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II as the new administrator. He officially became the head of the Clinic’s administration on Monday, November 13th taking over the post previously held by Owen Vellos. Najarro is no stranger to the island, as he is a San Pedrano who is happy to be back home and looking forward to working together with the community to continue improving Ambergris Caye’s main medical institution.
Najarro spent his first ten years of life on the island before his family relocated to Corozal Town following the devastation of Hurricane Keith in 2000. He is a recent graduate of the University of Belize with two years of experience in the administration field. Najarro told The Sun that prior to taking over the post at the Clinic, he worked from 2015 to 2017 as a Business Relations Officer at the Atlantic Bank in Belmopan City. He believes that his experience and background in the administrative field will guide him on the right path to continue improving the services of the Clinic.
According to Najarro the assistance from the business community and local authorities have been essential for the continued performance of the facility. “The aim is to continue providing the community with the best service possible,” said Najarro. “We are already handling emergencies very well, but we would like to do more in the future. The hope is for our facility to be able to work with extreme cases of emergencies, but for that, we will need more resources and possibly more medical personnel.” Najarro added that the Clinic is unique in that it mainly only serves the community of Ambergris Caye, and even though the staff may be small, they continue doing anything they can to provide the necessary service the island residents deserve.
During his tenure as the administrator, Najarro looks forward to keeping up the maintenance and smooth functioning of the Clinic. “There is a lot of work to be done and I look forward to work along with our staff and the community to continue making our clinic better,” said Najarro. He thanked the community for their support in the form of donations to the medical facility, which strives to meet the daily demands of the island population.
The San Pedro Sun joins the island community in welcoming Eric Najarro and wishes him all the very best at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II.
