In the spirit of Christmas, the San Pedro Dance Academy (SPDA) hosted its annual Christmas Recital on Sunday, December 15th. “Feliz Belize Navidad” brought together family and friends at the San Pedro Lions Den to witness the performances of young dancers who had been practicing their routines for months.

Hellfighters Ministry Spreads Christmas Joy with 7th Annual Toy Drive

On Sunday, December 15th, the Hellfighters Foot Soldiers Ministry hosted its annual toy drive in San Pedro, Belize, to spread joy and holiday cheer among local children. 2024 marked the seventh consecutive year holding the toy drive. Pastor Roberto Sabino, President of the Hellfighters Ministry, explained that the drive is part of the ministry's ongoing commitment to community service and outreach, particularly during the festive season.

Island leaders and educators participate in Social and Behavior Change Communication Workshop

On December 13, 2024, a workshop at the Sunbreeze Conference Room in San Pedro focused on Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) to end violence against women and children. Organized by The National Women’s Commission, this initiative is part of a broader campaign to address gender-based violence (GBV) by promoting behavioral changes among men and boys in the community. The workshop brought together various stakeholders, including local leaders, educators, and community members, to engage in discussions and activities designed to challenge existing norms and promote healthier relationships.

San Pedro hosts one of the best Lighted Boat Christmas Parades

After a five-year hiatus, the Holiday Lighted Christmas Boat Parade was held again in San Pedro Town on Saturday, December 14th. The event was revived by islanders Elito Arceo and Karen Canul, along with the San Pedro Tour Operators Association and Seaduced by Belize. This creative and colorful event was considered one of the best. The participating boats lined the eastern coast of San Pedro, illuminating the area with dazzling lights. Visitors and residents enjoyed the traditional event, which had been absent since 2019. The highly anticipated spectacle raised the bar for highlighting the Christmas spirit and concluded with a fantastic fireworks show in front of Central Park.

Reel Belize and Reel Women encourage women’s involvement in fly fishing

Reel Belize is a premier fishing and adventure company based in San Pedro, Belize, catering to experienced anglers and novices. Much-needed repairs and upgrades coming for northern roads

On December 5th, the Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez, Deputy Mayor Dianeli Aranda, San Pedro Town Council operations manager Alex Eck, and tourism stakeholders met to discuss upgrading the roads in northern Ambergris Caye. To address the situation, Perez said they have acquired 250 loads of hardcore material to make urgent repairs and restore access to affected areas. This is a short-term strategy, while a long-term solution is in the works.
