Hospitalized COVID-19 patients at KHMH unvaccinated
All current patients infected with the COVID-19 virus at Belize City’s Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) are unvaccinated. According to KHMH Chairman Dr. Andre Sosa who, on Tuesday, July 20th, told the media that none of the persons hospitalized had taken the COVID-19 vaccine.

9PM curfew goes into effect on July 26th
On Monday, July 26th, a new curfew will go into effect from 9PM to 4AM. The new curfew is in response to the spike in COVID-19 cases across the country and is expected to be in place for two weeks.

Government extends lockdown in southern villages due to COVID-19 infections
The Government of Belize has decided to keep the three villages in the Toledo District, Conejo, Midway, and Barranco, under lockdown for an additional two weeks. The lockdown was implemented on July 2nd, along with a curfew from 8PM to 4:59AM. During these two additional weeks, the government will continue assisting the people in these villages with food packages and a weekly stipend per family.

Primary Schools in Rural Toledo to Receive Handwashing Stations
Twenty-nine handwashing stations were donated on July 16, 2021 to the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) in partnership with UNICEF Belize as part of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program led by the WASH Multi-Sectoral Body.

Another islander hospitalized with COVID-19; infections on the rise
The latest COVID-19 infections across the country and in San Pedro Town continue to show a slow increase. With five new cases reported on Friday, July 16th, on the island, another islander was transported to Belize City via the Belize Emergency Response Team air ambulance for further medical attention.

Abner Bacab certified as an Emergency Medical Technician
Island resident Abner Bacab continues to raise the bar of his dedication and service to San Pedro Town and recently became a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). For the past months, he’s been enrolled in a course facilitated by the Belize Emergency Response Team. Bacab participated in the practical portion of the training at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City, the primary referral medical institution.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues its vaccination campaign, landing on the islands. Countrywide, 37,473 are fully vaccinated, while 102,052 have received their first dose.

As cases of COVID-19 continue on the rise across the country, San Pedro Town continues to see cases increase, with some islanders needing hospitalization. Two San Pedranos were admitted in critical conditions at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City, where they are reported to be stabilized.
