SPTC plans to expand wastewater services north of San Pedro Town

Access to proper water and wastewater services is crucial to the residents of Ambergris Caye. The administration in charge, led by Mayor Gualberto ‘Wally’ Nuñez, is committed to expanding and improving these services in the northern part of the island in collaboration with various partners, including Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL), the Ministry of Economic Development (DOE), the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre, the Belize Department of Environment, the Belize Forest Department, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the National Hydrological Service, and the Ministry of Economic Development, Belize.

Belize Water Services continues to upgrade and expand services in San Pedrito

To better provide water access to San Pedro residents, Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL) continues expanding its infrastructure across the island. For the past weeks, the water company has been working along the San Pedrito Highway, installing the necessary pipe system to better service the San Pedrito community as this subdivision grows.

Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL) has been expanding its water services across San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to meet the growth of the island community. The water company is working along the San Pedrito highway to upgrade its infrastructure and better serve the San Pedrito subdivision.

Plans underway to improve water services on Ambergris Caye

The topic of adequate water services and a connection to a proper wastewater system in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, is a task every administration on the island has tried to tackle with help from experts in this area. The current administration, headed by Mayor Gualberto ‘Wally’ Nuñez, is working to establish a new water plant in northern Ambergris Caye and upgrade the present facilities (south water plants and wastewater system) to make them climate resilient and sustainable.

Belize to Expand Access to Drinking Water and Optimize Water Providers, with IDB Support

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved two complementary programs to enhance the quality of water services in rural and peri-urban areas of Belize. The two operations, totaling $10.64 million, will bring safe drinking water to over 20,000 households in 44 rural communities in the country's six districts and nearly 400 households in peri-urban areas. Program beneficiaries include vulnerable populations such as migrants and Indigenous people.

BWSL working hand in hand with island authorities to improve production and access to potable water

Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL) is working hard on several infrastructural projects across San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, to upgrade potable water delivery. The company, which manages projects in Caye Caulker as well, is also preparing to produce more water, expand its services and invest in water treatment facilities on the Cayes.

BWS Offers 5% Rebate to Tourism Accomodations

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is pleased to inform tourism stakeholders that the Belize Water Services Limited (BWSL) will offer a 5% early payment rebate on bills for the months of June, July and August 2021 to approved accommodations. This collaboration between the BTB and BWSL aims to provide financial relief to accommodations within the tourism sector.
