The Government of the United Kingdom (UK), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), and the Government of Belize announced the successful completion of the Philip Goldson Highway and Remate Bypass upgrade in Belize - a significant milestone in the UK’s and the Bank's longstanding partnership with the Government and people of Belize.

Cabinet Brief for 10th August 2023
Cabinet considered and approved the joint plan from the Attorney General’s Ministry and the Ministry of E-Governance for a program to strengthen the civil registry. This will achieve a more efficient civil registry program, modernizing and improving all services of the Vital Statistics Unit through the establishment of a pertinent legal policy framework, simplified procedures and an inclusive and accessible online service.

Belize Discusses Finance for Development at CDB’s 53rd Annual Meeting of Board of Governors
Dr. Osmond Martinez, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development, and Mr. Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government, represented Belize at the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) 53rd Annual Meeting of its Board of Governors in St. Lucia. The CEOs represented Belize as Temporary Alternate Governor and Temporary Alternate Director, respectively. The annual meeting is being held under the theme, “Marshalling Finance for Development: Access to Adequate, Affordable Financing.”

Belize implements Phase Two of the Road Safety Project with one of the First Inter-programmatic Consultations for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Victims...
To improve the quality of mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) for victims of road accidents and their families, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Government of Belize with financial support from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) conducted a consultation with multiple representatives from key ministries, stakeholders, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Belize Private Sector Project Capacity Building and Validation Forum
The Ministry of Economic Development, in collaboration with the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) and with the support of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), convened the Capacity Building Forum Closing and Validation Workshop of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)-funded project, “Strengthening Belize Private Sector Access to Climate Finance” on July 20, 2022.

Belize Participates in 52nd Annual CDB Meeting and IMF Regional Event
The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) held its 52nd Board of Governors meeting in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, from June 13 to 16, 2022. Belize was represented by Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, as Alternate Governor of Belize to the CDB; and Dr. Osmond Martinez, CEO, Economic Development, as Belize's Executive Director to CDB.

Belize reaffirms commitment to United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety – 2021 to 2030
On June 6, 2022 , the Government of Belize reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety – 2021 to 2030. Chief executive officers from the ministries of Economic Development; Transport; Education; Health & Wellness, Infrastructure Development and Housing; Finance; and National Security, along with a representative from the Belizean Youth for Road Safety, signed a proclamation pledging support for the United Nations’ Decade of Action to reduce serious road traffic crashes and serious injuries on the highways by 50% by the year 2030.

Signing of Mental Health and Psychosocial Consultancy Agreement with PAHO
on April 4th, 2022 an agreement was signed between the Government of Belize and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for technical cooperation in mental health and psychosocial care supported by the Second Road Safety Project.
