Launch of the E-Bus Service and Charging Depot of the E-Mobility Pilot Project

July 19, 2024 marks a significant milestone for the residents of Belize City as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance (MPUELE), the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport through the Department of Transport (DoT), and the Belize City Council (BCC) with funding support from the European Union (EU), launched the e-bus service and charging depot of the E-Mobility Pilot Project.

Peace Corps Belize Hosts Swearing-In Ceremony for 5th Group of Response Volunteers

Peace Corps Belize swore in a group of six new Peace Corps Response Volunteers at a ceremony in Belmopan. For the next nine months, Response Volunteers will focus on transferring skills to 13 primary schools’ lower-division teachers, empowering them to offer small-group literacy intervention instruction to children reading below grade level. The short-term, high-impact program includes senior professionals and returned Peace Corps Volunteers with advanced degrees and specialized certifications.

Peace Corps Belize signs MOU with Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport

On February 21st, 2023, Peace Corps/Belize and the Ministry of  Youth, Sports, and Transport signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on a national priority area of youth development in Belize. Peace Corps Volunteers will work alongside Belizean counterparts to implement the project activities. The goal of the project is to help Belizean youth lead healthy and empowered lives to realize their full potential into adulthood. The project activities will focus on physical education and sports development through the National Primary School Sports Program of the National Sports Council. 

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Transport Technical Visit and Study Tour in South Korea

Knowledge transfer is a key component of capacity building for the Public Transportation Reform Project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank. The delegation participated in lectures and field visits tailored to aid Belize’s public transportation development by adopting applicable solutions from South Korea’s advancement blueprint on the land transportation sector.

Department of Youth Services Celebrates International Youth Day

On August 12, 2022, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Transport, through the Department of Youth Services (DYS), celebrated International Youth Day by hosting the grand finale of the first Belize Youth Rising Star Talent Competition.

Girl Powered Leadership Camp 2022

On August 12, 2022, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Transport, through the Department of Youth Services (DYS), concluded its first-ever Girl Powered Leadership Camp. The two-week camp was hosted at the Youth with a Mission campus in Roaring Creek Village, Cayo District, and was split into two cohorts: the first for girls aged 14-17 and the second for young women aged 18-22, with each group attending a week consecutively. A total of 80 participants from across Belize attended.
