Tropical Wave causing inclement weather over the country

The sunny weather changed on Wednesday, August 17th, due to a tropical wave moving over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. The National Hurricane Center notes that the tropical wave is over Honduras and will move through Central America in the coming days. The weather system is expected to then emerge on the Mexican Campeche Bay, where an area of low pressure could form by this Friday.

The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season is just days away, and according to predictions, it will be another above-normal season. The season officially runs from June 1 through November, and forecasters estimate the number of named storms will range between 13 and 20, of which three to 10 could become hurricanes and even major weather cyclones ranging from category 3 to 5 storms.

Monitoring the Possibility for Development of a Tropical System Close to Belize

The National Meteorological Services of Belize and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) are in discussion regarding ongoing computer models which are predicting that a tropical system could develop within our region, close to Belize somewhere near to Honduras/Nicaragua by the weekend or very early next week. The models will be better able to predict the possibility for the development of a tropical system and a projected path between today and the upcoming days.
