Joint United Nations Development Program – Government of Belize Equipment Handing Over Ceremony
On January 24th, 2023, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance, through the E-Governance and Digitalization Unit, alongside the Attorney General’s Ministry through the Vital Statistics Unit, were both recipients of ICT equipment in support of the Digital Inclusion Grant Programme and the Strengthening Civil Registry Grant Project respectively courtesy of the UNDP.

Public Advisory: Amnesty mobile clinics coming to San Pedro in February
An amnesty clinic is being planned for February 4-5th in San Pedro Town. Designed for people to address their legal status in Belize, the island sessions will help those who need help with their applications. Organizers expect to offer aid for up to 150 persons during the two-day event. Anyone planning to attend, and/or may have questions, is asked to call 223-9500.

Opposition protests poor service at Vital Statistics Unit
The Vital Statistics Unit in Belize City, where every Belizean citizen gets a birth certificate and other documents of identification, has come under scrutiny after thousands of Belizeans complained they could not get their birth papers. The issue has prompted the Leader of the Opposition and People’s United Party (PUP), Honourable John Briceño to protest on the ongoing problem in a show of support for the affected citizens.
