BEL submits Full Tariff Review Proceeding Application to the PUC for 2020 to 2024

Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has submitted an application to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) under the Full Tariff Review Proceeding (FTRP) for the Full Tariff Period (FTP) starting July 1, 2020 and ending on June 30, 2024 (FTP 2020/2024). The FTRP is a review and subsequent determination by the PUC of the Regulated Values, Mean Electricity Rate (MER), Tariffs, Rates, Charges and Fees applicable for the FTP 2020/2024.

BTB statistics say tourism in Belize is booming; Ambergris Caye says ‘not here.’

Many are speculating that this downturn is associated with the changes Ambergris Caye has been undergoing over the years. Massive developments are alleged to have overshadowed the once-charming island, coupled with the lack of proper infrastructure, and seemingly unplanned growth; some fear that Belize’s golden goose of tourism has lost her appeal.

Changes in the Pump Price of Premium Gasoline Effective January 22, 2020

The Ministry of Finance announces that effective Wednesday, January 22, 2020, the pump price for Premium Gasoline will increase by 27 cents from $10.72 to $10.99 per gallon.

Blue Water Grill donates nearly $11K to Hope Haven

Hope Haven Children’s Home was the recipient of a monetary donation from Blue Water Grill (BWG) on Wednesday, January 8th. The donation, totalling $10,989.90, was collected from July through December in 2019 via the efforts of BWG and their sister companies, Wine de Vine, Red Ginger in Belize and The Phoenix Resort, including patron contributions.
