BTB Addresses Misinformation on Airport Closure

Share

Belize City, Belize, Thursday, December 17, 2020 – The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is aware of a rumor currently circulating that the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) is being closed down and that visitors need to cancel their flights and reservations.

The BTB hereby advises industry stakeholders and the general public that this rumor is absolutely false. The PGIA remains open to international travel and there is no plan in place to institute any such closure. In actuality, increased volumes of passengers and flights are expected over December and January.

The BTB hereby requests your support in refraining from sharing this misinformation, as it can create fear and confusion among travelers and negatively affect our efforts to rebuild the tourism industry. Please ensure that you are receiving your information from official and credible sources.

If there are any questions or concerns please contact the BTB via email at [email protected] or call 227-2420.
