The MoECST Receives Donation of 260 Laptops from BSIF
On Friday, May 13, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST) received a donation of 260 laptops from the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF) at a ceremony held at Sadie Vernon Technical High School in Belize City.

San Pedro High School to resume full in-person classes in May
While schools across the island have slowly transitioned from distance learning to face-to-face instruction, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) announced that as of Tuesday, May 3rd, all students will be required to attend classes physically. The school has been on a hybrid learning system, in which a portion of its student body attends classes and the rest studies online.

On April 13, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST) received a donation of desktop computers and hygienic supplies from the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize.

Government says schools can return to in-class learning
Following the lifting of the COVID-19 regulations in Belize, particularly making it optional to wear face masks and observing social distancing, the Government of Belize has given the 'go ahead' for all schools to return to face-to-face teaching. Schools can immediately apply this change to their current schedule or wait until the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year when in-person instruction will be mandatory.

Child Stimulation Month underway
Every year March is designated Child Stimulation Month, and the event opens with a festive parade with the participation of the island’s pre-schools, parents, and teachers. This year, no such parade occurred due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Still, pre-schools across the island are hosting many activities designed to stimulate the talents and interest of their young students under the theme "We are strong, learning and growing."

Although restrictions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus have been further relaxed, some schools in San Pedro Town continue applying the hybrid learning system. Some schools offer face-to-face learning, while others provide a mixture of in-person and online sessions.

Members of the Belizean Diaspora Donate Laptops to Secondary School Students
The Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations (MTDR) received a donation of 130 laptops and accessories from Belizeans living at home and abroad that will be distributed to secondary school students by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST).

Launch of the Aptus PI Pilot Project in Belize
On March 3, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology(MoECST) in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning and NotesMaster, formally launched the Aptus PI Pilot Project at a ceremony held at the Gwen Lizarraga High School in Belize City. In attendance were Hon. Francis Fonseca, MoECST Minister; Mrs. Dian Maheia, Chief Executive Officer; and Ms. Yolanda Gongora, Chief Education Officer. Mr. Dean Dundas, Chief Executive Officer of Notesmaster, and Dr. Tony Mays, Senior Specialist of Open Schools at the Commonwealth of Learning, joined the ceremony virtually.
