Let’s recycle with The Recycling Network of Belize

Share

RECYCLE your OLD electronicsThe Recycling Network of Belize is a program managed by the Belize Tourism Industry association (BTIA) and Resource Recovery Recycling Limited. Within the program they encourage citizens of Belize to donate any material deemed recyclable, which they then process into new products such as cups and t-shirts. The Recycling Network of Belize’s mission is to be economically self-sustainable, with a low level of pollution. This is a nonprofit organization that strives to one day establish a nationwide recycling center available to the entire country. Since this program is managed under the tourism industry, its products are designed to strengthen Belize’s tourism industry by promoting Belize as an Eco-Friendly country.

On March 2nd the Recycling Network of Belize will be holding an Electronics Collection Event. Any person wanting to get rid of old electronics in an efficient manner are invited to drop off their equipment at the former ITVET compound located in Belize City. The event will take place from 10AM to 4PM. This is an excellent manner to give a hand in the preservation of our country.

If it is impossible to make it on that day there is always the option of dropping off your recyclables at their recycling plant in Ladyville in the Belize District. Items can also be dropped off at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City. All of the recyclable materials are compressed and shipped to international buyers in India, China and USA that then process them into a variety of products.

The service offered by The Recycling Network of Belize is a resourceful way to dispose of unwanted material. Remember, the burning of garbage produces harmful gases that lead to the Green House Effect. Burning garbage can also cause toxic waste to seep into our underground water reserves. Recycling is one of the best ways to minimize these harmful effects to the earth.

Persons interested in making a drop-off can call the Ladyville recycling plant on Mondays to Saturdays during the hours of 8AM to 5PM at phone number 227-1144. For more information email at [email protected] or follow them on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheRecyclingNetwork.
