Unified Real Estate Association Gives Members Stronger Voice

The Association of Real Estate Brokers of Belize (AREBB) and the Belize National Association of Real Estate (BNAR) are now one entity: the Belize Real Estate Association (BREA). It is expected that after a successful transition into one formal and democratic entity, both associations will be fully merged within a period of six months.

BTB and the Hol Chan Marine Reserve sign Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen enforcement of tourism operations within the reserve

The Belize Tourism Board, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and the Tourism Police Unit have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding aimed at improving the tourism enforcement activities at the marine reserve. The MOU officiates the existing working relationship between the three agencies that have seen the execution of numerous enforcement and monitoring activities within the HCMR.

BTB and APAMO sign MOU for greater cooperation in the sustainable development of protected areas

The MOU was signed at the BTB headquarters in Belize City on Wednesday, February 2nd by the Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations and Mr. Jose Perez, Executive Director of APAMO. As part of the MOU, the BTB will develop a pilot project alongside APAMO to further develop areas of Sustainable Certification/Accreditation and growth.

Prime Minister Briceño signs MOU with WWF and TNC strengthening the Blue Bonds initiative

On Tuesday, November 2nd, Prime Minister Honourable John Briceño signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to create a Project Finance initiative for Permanence (PFP) by 2025. This project, considered the first of its kind, is part of the Blue Bonds initiative to further protect and promote sustainable management of Belize’s coastal-marine ecosystems. The historic MOU was signed in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, during the ongoing 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) climate change summit.

UNHCR and Department of Youth Services Sign Agreement to Support Refugee, local Youth in Belize

On July 23rd 2021, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and the Department of Youth Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly support refugee and Belizean youth. Both entities will coordinate and collaborate on actions to support the protection and inclusion of young men and women affected by forced displacement.

Fisheries Ministry signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Coalition for Sustainable Fisheries

On Thursday, March 3rd, the Belize Government Press Office issued an official release declaring the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, and Sustainable Development and the Coalition for Sustainable Fisheries.

The National Oceanography Center and the University of Belize Sign MoU To Advance Marine Science Research in Belize

This partnership will see the two institutions develop joint training, research projects and technical programs to enable knowledge transfer and research collaboration focused on delivering world-class marine science for the benefit of local, regional and global communities.

UK Armed Forces to continue training in Belize: Revised Status of Forces Agreement signed

The revised SOFA and its Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Minister of National Security, Honorable John Saldivar, on behalf of the Government of Belize (GOB) and the UK Minister of Defense, Right Honorable Mark Lancaster. The SOFA is an agreement that allows the UK to have military forces stationed in Belize without it being considered an act of military occupation.
