IPCU Hosts DPA Program Information Sharing Session with Stakeholders

On December 5, 2023, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Investment, through its Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), hosted an information-sharing session with companies that are current beneficiaries under the Designated Processing Areas (DPA) incentive program.

DFC signs BZD $11 MN Loan and Grant Agreement with ICDF Taiwan to support MSMEs with focus on women and green financing

On April 17, 2023, at the Office of the Prime Minister, the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Government of Belize signed a Loan and Grant Agreement with the International Cooperation and Development Fund of Taiwan (TaiwanICDF) to co-finance with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on a parallel basis, a project to support the sustainability of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with a focus on women and green financing.

GOB takes support services to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in first-ever National MSME Roadshow

The Economic Development Council (EDC), through its technical secretariat, the Public-Private Desk in the Office of the Prime Minister, is proud to highlight the official launch of the first-of-its-kind, National MSME Roadshow. The launch took place at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel on Friday, August 5th starting at 10:00 a.m. and featured an Access to Finance panel discussion with representatives from the Development Finance Corporation, Central Bank of Belize, the Belize Credit Union League, the National Bank of Belize as well as remarks by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a keynote address by Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño.

On May 26, 2022, representatives from 20 companies gathered for the first Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Stakeholder Meeting hosted by the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Investment.

GOB Clarifies Licensing Payment

The Smart bid was lower than that of BTL and Inova Solutions, and the Bid Evaluation Committee recommended to the Ministry of Finance that Smart Belize be awarded the contract. The ministry accepted that recommendation. The process was open, transparent and fair. There was and could not have been any interference, since all three bids were password protected. The entire tendering process was handled by CITO without interference.
