Belize Participates in Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE) in Seattle, Washington
Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Executive Director of BELTRAIDE is among 60 senior-level government, business, policy and economic decision-makers from 20 countries across the Americas who attended the Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE). The exchange was held from May 14 – May 19, 2023, grants participants a first-hand look at the greater Seattle, Washington region’s economic, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

OAS Secretary General says Belize and Guatemala need to continue working together
The territorial claim on Belize by Guatemala is far from over as it waits for the International Court of Justice (ICJ) settlement. Along the border dividing both countries, the Organization of American States (OAS) has an office where they monitor activities in the area. OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro arrived in the country on Sunday, August 21st, for a two-day visit. Almagro urged Belize and Guatemala to continue working together and cooperate through the Confidence Building Measures agreed between both countries.

The National Women's Commission informs that Mrs. Thea Garcia-Ramirez is the delegate representing Belize at the Organization of American States (OAS) 39th Assembly of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) held at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) Panama from May 25th to the 26th, 2022.

Meeting of the Re-activated Belize/Guatemala Joint Commission
The Belize/Guatemala Joint Commission met on May 18th, 2021 at the Radisson Hotel in Belize City. The encounter emanates from a directive by the foreign ministers of both countries at their meeting in March 2021 at the Organization of American States (OAS) Office in the Adjacency Zone to reactivate the work of the Belize/Guatemala Joint Commission.

Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala Meet at Office of the Organization of American States in the Adjacency Zone
Hon. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration of Belize, and H.E. Pedro Brolo Vila, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, met on March 4, 2021 at the Office of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the Adjacency Zone. It was the first meeting between the two foreign ministers since they assumed their respective posts.

Ambassador Nestor Mendez Assumes Second Term as Assistant Secretary General of the OAS
On July 17th, during a virtual meeting of the Permanent Council, Ambassador Nestor Mendez assumed his second term in office as the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the period 2020-2025. Ambassador Mendez was reelected by acclamation at the Organization's 54th Special General Assembly on March 20, 2020.
