Firefighters unhappy about cuts to overtime pay

Firefighters across Belize, including those in San Pedro, are voicing their dissatisfaction and concerns regarding several issues within the fire department. These include cuts to overtime wages, inadequate equipment, lack of training, and the removal of ranks.

San Pedro Fire Station renovations will improve emergency response

Recent renovations at the fire station in San Pedro Town represent a significant investment in improving emergency response capabilities. The National Fire Service is upgrading facilities and equipment nationwide to enhance its ability to respond to various emergencies. These improvements aim to address the limitations of their current resources.

San Pedro Fire Station conducts simulation exercise

To better respond to fire emergencies in San Pedro Town, the local fire service conducted a simulation exercise on Thursday, February 8th, along one of the busiest streets in the downtown area. The exercise evaluated the fire station’s ability to execute an efficient deployment strategy to contain a fire disaster and save property and lives.

The fire station on the island located on Pescador Drive, next to the police station, is experiencing changes and upgrades to service the island community better. Some of these upgrades improve working conditions which have been possible with the partnership by the business community and other stakeholders. As such, the management and staff thank all those involved in the different activities, donations, and fundraisers aimed to benefit their facilities.

San Pedro’s Fire Department hosts fire response and extinguisher training

On Friday, October 14th, the San Pedro Fire Station partnered with the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) and stakeholders such as Fabrigas to conduct a fire safety awareness fair dubbed 'Citizens Fire Extinguisher Training' at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex. The event included informative presentations about what to do in fire emergencies, how to use fire extinguishers, and learning about first aid kits. Those participating in the activity also walked away with fabulous prizes.
