U.S. Government Donates Essential Equipment to Support Belize Security Operations
As part of the U.S. Embassy’s Commitment to enhancing ѕесurіtу соореrаtіоn throughout the rеgіоn, the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics & Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) have provided the Government of Belize with capability enhancement which includes IT equipment, vehicle maintenance equipment, boat engines, and a bomb disposal suit. The support was given to the Belize Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JOIC), Belize Coast Guard, and Belize Defence Force.

The U.S. Embassy holds Visa application process presentation in San Pedro
On Wednesday, April 24th, at 5:30 PM, the United States (U.S.) Embassy in Belize hosted a Town Hall meeting at the Lion’s Den in Ambergris Caye. This event, a presentation on visa applications, was designed to provide crucial information to Belizeans interested in obtaining a U.S. visa. The presentation covered various topics, including different types of visas, the visa application process, visa payment, and the interview waiver process.

U.S. Embassy Partners with The Government of Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit on Financial Investigative Technique Training
The U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau and U.S. Internal Revenue Service partnered with Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to host a weeklong training on Financial Investigative Techniques at the Princess Ramada Hotel. The training was attended by members of the FIU, Office of the DPP, Belize Judiciary, Belize Customs Department, Immigration Department, Belize Tax Service Department, and the Belize Police Department’s Mobile Interdiction Team, Anti-Narcotics Unit and Criminal Investigation Branch.

Gender-based and Domestic Violence Forum Raises Awareness of Support Services for Victims
The InfoSegura Regional Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in alliance with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), joined the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries and the U.S. Embassy to hold a forum on gender-based and domestic violence, highlighting the services and resources available to women and girls, youth, and persons exposed to violence in Belize.

U.S. Embassy Partners with The Government of Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit to Host Sensitization Sessions on Civil Asset Recovery and Unexplained Wealth Act
The U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Director Heath Bailey joined Financial Secretary Joseph Waight, Director of FIU Ms. Leni Ysaguirre McGann, and Mr. Alexander Ferguson from Gentium UK to offer remarks at the start of Belize’s Sensitization Session on Civil Asset Recovery and Unexplained Wealth Act at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza. The session is a weeklong workshop hosted by the Government of Belize and the U.S. Embassy’s INL Unit.

U.S. Grants Support Good Governance Initiatives in Belize
In a ceremony held September 26, 2023, the U.S. Embassy celebrated the recipients of five 2023 Central America Regional Security Initiative, Economic Support Fund (CARSI-ESF) grants. The 2023 recipients will partner with government agencies on projects that foster improved health services, enhance access to government services, and protect human rights. The total value of the grants is US$1 million.

State Department Program to Empower Women Entrepreneurs in Southside Belize City
The U.S. Embassy launched its inaugural Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program, a global U.S. State Department initiative focused on empowering women entrepreneurs. Through mentorship, education, and access to resources, the eight-week program will equip women with the skills and knowledge to establish and expand successful businesses.

U.S. Embassy Joins Community Activists to Unveil Peace Mural in Southside Belize City
On April 27, 2023 U.S. Ambassador Michelle Kwan joined reformed formal rival gang members from four communities in Southside Belize City for the painting of a community mural, marking the successful close of a U.S. Embassy-funded program to support sustainable and equitable economic development in underserved communities.
