Ministry of Transport Mandates the Purchasing Of Tickets Before Boarding Buses
All Bus Operators (Bus Owners) are hereby reminded of their responsibility to sell tickets at the Bus Terminals as mandated by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Regulation and the Quarantine
(Prevention of the spread of infectious disease) (Covid 19) Regulations, 2020 (Statutory Instrument No. 136 of 2020). Bus drivers and conductors are to sanitize buses before transporting passengers and are to refrain from carrying passenger in excess of the seating capacity. Bus Drivers who are caught transporting excessive passengers will be prosecuted.

Mexican Navy Vessel experiences mechanical problems in front of Ambergris Caye
The foreign military vessel apparently experienced mechanical failure as they were exiting a channel to the open sea while bound north to Mexico. They did not run aground on the reef as rumored.

Ministry of Transport Addresses Public Transportation Reports
While the Department has increased monitoring and has mandated bus companies to increase cleaning efforts in response to the COVID-19 threat, the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management and the DOT have been receiving reports that public transportation operators including drivers and conductors along with travelling commuters are not adhering to the Regulations. Bus drivers, conductors and passengers are not wearing their masks when travelling in the buses, or in some instances, they are not properly worn. It has also been reported that in some instances sanitization of hands or of the buses is not being done.

Bank (CDB) towards the cost of Belize's Second Road Safety Project. This event is to roll out Eighteen Fully
Equipped 2020 Kawasaki Versys X 300 ABS Patrol Motorcycles which were handed over to Municipal Traffic
Officers in support of Belize's Road Safety Master Plan 2030 and the Municipal Road Safety Operational Plan. The
partnership with CDB builds on institutional capacity along with the provision of resources to carry out the task to
save lives from road traffic crashes.

Increase in traffic accidents prompts San Pedro Traffic Department to address speeding
Over the past weeks, Ambergris Caye has registered an alarming increase in golf cart traffic accidents, with several residents and visitors sustaining grave injuries. The San Pedro Traffic Department has stepped up to address the issue, saying it believes the incidents are caused by speeding.

Electric Scooters operating without the approval of San Pedro’s Traffic Department
Not only is the general public against it, but the San Pedro Traffic Department (SPTD) as well. The SPTD stated that they do not agree with the powered stand-up scooters and that they never issued any permits for their usage on the island. Although the SPTD does not approve of the new business, the proprietors were able to override their decision by obtaining a trade license from The San Pedro Town Council.
