Belmopan— The U.S. Embassy will be hosting a Flag Raising Ceremony in commemoration of LGBTI Pride Month on Wednesday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan.
The U.S. Embassy has invited members of government, civil society, and the diplomatic corps to be present for the official ceremony. The flag will fly for the remainder of June to celebrate LGBTI Pride Month.
The U.S. Government encourages governments and partners around the world to overturn laws that criminalize same-sex conduct, to curb violence against LGBTI individuals, and to advance the human rights of LGBTI persons worldwide. The U.S. works to ensure the human rights of all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Please email [email protected] with list of detailed equipment (video camera, camera etc.) and names of persons attending the ceremony by 3:00 pm, Tuesday, June 20. The Press will be given the opportunity to hold a short press brief with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Adrienne Galanek, on LGBTI pride month after the ceremony. Please bring a press identification card and an official ID. Only advance R.S.V.P. will be permitted on Embassy grounds.
