Twenty Two (22) Persons Complete Training in Forensic Ballistics

Press Release – March 25, 2013 – Ministry of National Security- On Friday March 22, 2013, Twenty Two (22) persons received certificates after completing a one-week Training Course in Forensic Ballistics, conducted by the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) in collaboration with the British High Commission in Belize and the Ministry of National Security.

The areas covered by the course are mainly in support of criminal investigations and the counter-proliferation of firearms and ammunition.
Keynote Speaker at the Closing/Graduation Ceremony was British High Commissioner in Belize, H.E. Pat Ashworth. Other speakers included the newly appointed Director of the National Forensic Science Service, David Henderson; and Chief Forensic Analyst, Genoveva Marin. Also present was Deputy British High Commissioner, Jackie Brown. Master of Ceremonies was Police Press Officer, Raphael Martinez.

The Closing/Graduation Ceremony on Friday, March 22 took place inside the Family Association Conference Room at the Belize Defense Force Compound at Price Barracks, Ladyville.
