San Pedro continues raising Autism awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month across the country. Every year in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, a campaign is held to help the community understand and appreciate those living with autism spectrum disorder, a life-long developmental disorder. On Friday, April 28th, to further touch on the important topic, the San Pedro Town Council, in partnership with Autism Belize, hosted an Autism Let's Talk forum at the San Pedro Lions Den.

Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye completes project at Brighter Tomorrow Preschool

The renovation works at the Brighter Tomorrow Preschool in the San Pedrito subdivision by volunteers, and members of the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye are complete. The preschool now counts with renovated grounds and new supplies for students and classrooms. The special occasion was celebrated on Monday, April 3rd, which included refreshments and the acknowledgment of those involved in the project.

Child Stimulation Month closes with colorful parade

Child Stimulation Month ended on Friday, March 31st, with a parade across the main street of San Pedro Town. Celebrated annually during March, Child Stimulation Month aims to educate and advocate for early childhood education. This year's activities embraced the theme, "We are strong, learning, and growing."

SPJC hosts creative business fair

On Thursday, March 30th, the Angel Nuñez Auditorium was the San Pedro Junior College business fair venue. The event displayed several booths featuring various entrepreneurial concepts presented by the SPJC’s small business management class. The project aimed to work on business proposals to solve problems within the island community. At the end of the fair, the top three projects were awarded.

San Pedro High holds inspiring Science Fair 2023

On Friday, March 17th, the San Pedro High School (SPHS) hosted its annual Science Fair featuring the creative science works of their second, third, and fourth-form students. The fair was held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium and celebrated under the theme 'Innovation in Action, Being Practical, And Thinking Green is Our Motivation.'

SPHS hosts annual business fair

Under the theme 'Educating in Turbulent Times: Promoting Entrepreneurial Creativity and Innovation in Students,' the San Pedro High School (SPHS) held its annual business fair. Held on Friday, March 3rd, at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, the event aimed to nurture the entrepreneurial skills of business students. The event included motivational speeches and ended with recognizing the most outstanding business projects.

MoECST and IDB Tour Itz’at STEAM Academy

February 22, 2023, a delegation led by Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño, Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST); Dr. Hon. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of State in MoECST; and Dr. Ilan Goldfajn, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), toured the construction site of the Itz’at STEAM Academy in Belize City.

ACES’ Wesley Padilla wins annual Spelling Bee Zone Eliminations

On Friday, February 3rd, the annual Bowen and Bowen Spelling Bee Belize District Zone Eliminations were held at the Sagebrush Church auditorium. Participating schools included Holy Cross Anglican School, Isla Bonita Elementary School, New Horizon Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), San Pedro Roman Catholic School, The Island Academy (TIA), and Ambergris Caye Elementary School (ACES). Three topped the spelling competition. In third place was TIA’s Mille Fuson, followed by New Horizon SDA’s Valarie Najarro, and in first place ACES’ Wesley Padilla.
