San Pedro Athletes Eric Donis and Kent Gabourel dominated at Fiesta Rama’s Duathlon in Orange Walk this past weekend. The tournament took place on July 28th and saw competitors from across the country taking part. The games were organized by the Belize National Triathlon Association and comprised of a 2.5 mile run, followed by a 5 miles biking and ending with a second 2.5 miles run. Eric Donis took first place in the Elite Open (biking on racer’s bike) while Kent “Bob” Gabourel took first place in the Beach Cruiser open. In the overall, Eric took first place with a total time of 48 minutes and 25 seconds, while Kent ranked second with a total time of 50 minutes and 13 seconds. The boys from San Pedro would like to take  this opportunity to thank their sponsors Gabi Nuñez and The San Pedro Town Council for their continued contribution and support.

The athletes are gearing up for the annual Lionman competition scheduled for early September as part of the September Celebrations, and they are looking for team members as well as sponsors. Persons interested in learning more about the Lionman tournament or how they can become sponsors or even a member of the San Pedro Team may do so by contacting Kent at 604-9013. The San Pedro Sun congratulates both young men in performing exceptionally and doing us proud.
