Terror Squad FC wins first game in the NAIC’s semi-finals

San Pedro’s Terror Squad Football Club (FC) secured a home win in the first leg of the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship’s (NAIC) semi-finals on Saturday, August 3rd, at the Ambergris Stadium. The island squad overcame Legends FC from the Toledo District 2-1. The second round in the championship’s semi-finals continues this weekend. Terror Squad will travel to Toledo on Saturday, August 10th, to face Legends FC.

Team Big Sexy wins the San Pedro Classic Fly-Fishing Tournament; competition raises funds for two non-profits

The San Pedro Classic Fly-Fishing Tournament took place from August 1st to the 3rd and saw eight teams participate. The three-day competition included fishing and fun and showcased the importance of the fly-fishing industry in Belize. The top team, Team Big Sexy, won the grand prize of US$3,000, with Abner Marin and Zach Kolanda leading the team. Additionally, the tournament raised funds for the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (BTT) and Omar Arceo's Youth Fly-Fishing Program.

U15 and U17 Mundialito Champions make their mark in the youth football tournament

The exciting summer Mundialito Under-15 (U15) and Under-17 (U17) Tournament season concluded on Thursday, August 1st, at the Ambergris Stadium with the highly anticipated championship matches. The tournament provided male and female players a platform to showcase their skills across three engaging segments. The event started with the U17 match featuring an intense showdown between Argentina and England, followed by an exhilarating U15 battle between England and Mexico. The evening concluded with a fiercely contested female match between Team Hurricane and No Limits. Following the matches, an unforgettable award ceremony celebrated the outstanding performances of the players, with trophies and medals presented to the best talents.

San Pedro’s Terror Squad advances to NAIC semi-finals

Four football clubs (FC) from across the country have advanced to the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) semi-finals. One of these teams is Terror Squad FC from San Pedro Town, which is preparing to compete for a place in the national tournament finals. The other teams include Legends FC, Mi Gente FC, and EZ Griga Conquerors. The first leg of the semi-finals will begin this weekend. Terror Squad will host Legends FC on Saturday, August 3rd, at 7:30PM at the Ambergris Stadium.

Belize’s U21 Women’s Volleyball team makes history with a golden win!

The Belize National Female Volleyball team showcased their talent and emerged as champions in the 20th Central American U21 Women's Championship. This victory marked a historic moment for the country, as it was the first time Belize won a gold medal in volleyball. The competition occurred over four days at the Civic Center in Belize City from July 16 to 20, 2024. Additionally, Nisaan Martinez was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP). This considerable win puts Belize on the global volleyball map for the first time.

National Amateur Interdistrict Championship hosts quarterfinals

The first leg of the quarterfinals in the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) took place over the weekend of July 20th and 21st. Four matches were held nationwide, including one in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, between the island teams Terror Squad and Conquerors. The second leg of the quarterfinals continues this weekend from Friday, July 26th, through Sunday, the 28th.

Sea Bulls FC are the 2024 Island League Champions

The Island Football League (IFL) season concluded on Friday, July 19th, at the Ambergris Stadium. The final match between Conquerors FC and Sea Bulls FC resulted in a hard-fought victory, with an overtime penalty determining the winner. Sea Bulls FC secured a 3-1 win in the final game, earning them the championship title.

Team One Shot One Kill wins district championship in the Belikin 8-ball pool tournament

After several weeks of intense competition, the Belikin Stout National 8-Ball Pool Tournament crowned Team One Shot One Kill as the District Champion on Sunday, July 21st, at Casey's Boatyard Bar and Grill. They overcame their opponent, Casey's Snipers, with a final game score of 5-2. The competition phase will see both teams representing San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, and the Belize District at the national championship set for August 3rd and 4th at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium on the island.
