San Pedro Tiger Sharks ties BEBL final series 1-1
The island’s premier basketball team won the second game of the best-out-of-five final series of the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL). The San Pedro Tiger Sharks traveled to Belize City on Sunday, June 25th, to face the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes after they could not play their home game in San Pedro. Against the odds, the island team delivered and sealed their first victory in the BEBL finals 66-61 over the city team.

San Pedro teams participating in the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship
San Pedro's Terror Squad FC and Shark Shooters FC are among the 18 teams participating in the National Amateur Interdistrict (NAIC) Championship 2023. The first leg of the football tournament started on June 17th and saw the island team netting its first win, 2-0, against Mavericks United from the southern Toledo District.

San Pedro RC School male team head to National Primary School Football Championship in Belmopan
After conquering the Bishop's Cup Football Championship, the San Pedro Roman Catholic Primary School (SPRCS) boys aim for another big win at the National Primary Schools Football competition set for June 23rd at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. The island team qualified for this championship after winning the Belize District Tournament on June 15th at the Marion Jones Stadium in Belize City.

Belize’s Under-18 National Women’s Football Athletes to Participate in U.S. Government Sports Exchange
Athletes from Belize’s under-18 women’s national football team and their coach will travel to the United States for a sports exchange through the U.S. State Department Sports Visitor Program. On June 20, 2023, at the Football Federation of Belize headquarters, U.S. Ambassador Michelle Kwan and Minister of Youth, Sports, and Transport Rodwell Ferguson presided over a ceremony in honor of the participants ahead of the team’s departure on June 21.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks fall short in the first match of BEBL finals: Altercation incident addressed
The first game in the best of five matches for the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) final series was played on Thursday, June 15th, ending with the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes defeating the San Pedro Tiger Sharks 86-64. The match played at the Civic Center in Belize City also saw frustration in some island players resulting in an altercation among themselves on the court. The San Pedro Tiger Sharks have since apologized for the incident.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks are headed to the BEBL finals!
The island’s premier basketball team, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, have secured their spot in the 2023 Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) finals after overcoming the Orange Walk Running Rebels, 80-72, on Saturday, June 3rd at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. With Saturday’s victory, the island team closed off BEBL’s best-of-three semi-final series with a solid 2-0 lead. San Pedro Tiger Sharks now await the results of this upcoming weekend’s match between Benny’s Belize Hurricanes and the Griga Dream Ballers to find out their opponent in the tournament’s finals.

PLB’s San Pedro Pirates fall short to Verdes; settle for Sub-Championship
On Sunday, May 28th, facing bitter rivals Verdes FC for the last of two game finales, and down 1 point, The San Pedro Pirates fell short 2-1 and settled for the title of sub-champions. In an exciting final championship match, Verdes proved to be the top team in the country, securing their spot as champions with a 2-1 game point and a 3-1 aggregate score.

Verdes FC takes the lead in the first round of PLB’s finals
The first leg of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) closing championship ended with an upset after Verdes defeated San Pedro Pirates, 1-0 on their home turf on Wednesday, May 24th. The match's only goal happened during injury time of the second half, and it came as an unexpected hit to the island team and hundreds of fans attending the game at the Ambergris Stadium.
