The Government of Belize collaborates with Belize Bank to pilot online payment for services

The Government of Belize through a competitive bidding process under the project Supporting Electronic Payment Solutions received and evaluated bids from the Belize Bank, National Bank of Belize, Heritage Bank Limited, Speednet (Smart), and Digi. Based on final evaluations, the E-kyash powered by Belize Bank was selected as the first electronic payment solution to pilot online payment for the processing of Temporary Work Permit applications within the Labour Department’s Temporary Employment Permit system (https://tep.mlgrd.gov.bz). This collaboration aims to provide Belizeans with a safe and secure means of payments that can be rapidly dispersed across multiple channels and introduce significant efficiencies to investors and local entrepreneurs.

Belize Bank launches first ‘digital wallet’ E-Kyash application in San Pedro Town

An online service that allows users to transfer money, purchase items, and pay bills online has been launched in the country by Belize Bank. This new platform is called E-Kyash and was initiated at their San Pedro branch on Friday, August 6th. E-Kyash is a first-of-its-kind in Belize’s financial sector and has been well received on La Isla Bonita, with thousands of islanders already signed up for the service.

Belize Bank’s parent company takes over Scotiabank

The days of Scotiabank Belize are officially over after Caribbean Investment Holdings Limited, Belize Bank’s parent company, completed the acquisition. On Wednesday, March 31st, throughout the country, teams of workmen were observed taking down the iconic Scotiabank sign. In San Pedro Town, the sign was replaced with a Belize Bank one.

Central Bank of Belize to begin charging APSSS Fees to local banks

Three years since the system’s introduction, Central Bank will commence charging financial institutions a fee for the processing of transactions through APSSS, effective Monday, July 1st. In turn, local banks will be charging customers fees for services rendered.

Belize secures lower interest rate against Belize Bank $36 million award

The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) ruled in favor of Belize in its application to reduce the interest rate on a $36 million arbitration awarded to the Belize Bank contained in a certificate issued by the court.
