Belizean educators teaching in the USA through Participate Learning share their experience
A total of 20 Belizean educators are currently participating in a cultural exchange program with help from Participate Learning. This organization assists Latin-American teachers in teaching in the United States of America (USA), including those from Belize. The program is designed for teachers and allows them to work in American schools for five years. Participate Learning, in Virginia, USA, organized a Belizean media tour to understand and promote this opportunity better.

San Pedro Sun receives journalism award from World Wildlife Fund
Senior Reporter with The San Pedro Sun Dion Vansen and Editor Tamara Sniffin recently received a “Smart Coasts” journalism award from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF Mesoamerica) for highlighting the need to enforce environmental laws in Belize. Their collaboration on an article published in 2021 titled “Stakeholders attending virtual Smart Coast Project workshop say enforcement is critical for any environmental plan to succeed” led to the recognition of first prize in Belize.

San Pedro Sun’s senior reporter Dion Vansen attends investigative journalism training in Trinidad and Tobago
San Pedro Sun reporter Dion Vansen is currently in Port of Spain, the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago, participating in a workshop on using digital tools for investigative reporting. The activity runs from June 9th to the 11th and is organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and CONNECTAS. This non-profit journalistic initiative promotes the production, exchange, training, and dissemination of information on critical issues for the development of the Americas.
